DRWNPrivacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
The short version: DRWN records where you travel so it can draw your art, and that record stays on your iPhone. We don't run servers, we don't have accounts, and we don't collect, sell, or share your personal data. There are no analytics, ads, or trackers in the app or on this website.
This policy covers the DRWN app for iPhone and the website at drwn.app. DRWN is developed by Brandon Grant ("we", "us").
What DRWN stores on your iPhone
To draw your art, DRWN keeps the following in the app's private storage on your device:

This data is stored only on your iPhone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
Permissions DRWN asks for
- Location (While Using or Always): to record your path. With "Always", DRWN can start recording on its own when you begin moving, including with the phone locked.
- Motion & Fitness: to notice when you start driving, walking, or riding, so GPS runs only while you're moving. Motion data is processed on your iPhone and isn't stored, except as the travel type of a drive.
- Notifications: to tell you if recording has stopped for a long time. Notifications are created on your iPhone; we don't send push notifications.
- Photos (add only): to save posters you export to your photo library. DRWN can't read your existing photos.
You can change any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app.
When information leaves your iPhone
The map
DRWN shows your art over map imagery from Apple Maps. To draw the map, your iPhone requests map tiles from Apple for the area you're looking at. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy. Your recorded history isn't part of these requests. When you choose the plain black background, no map tiles are requested.
Backups
If you use iCloud Backup or move to a new iPhone, iOS includes DRWN's data in that backup or transfer, the same as other apps. It's stored in your own Apple Account under Apple's terms. We can't access it.
Things you choose to share
When you export a poster or your data, or share it, it goes wherever you send it. We don't receive a copy.
Crash reports
If you've turned on "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash and usage reports. They don't include your location history.
Nothing else
DRWN contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and doesn't use your data to track you across apps or websites. We don't sell or share personal information.
This website
drwn.app uses no cookies, analytics, or trackers, and loads nothing from third parties. It's hosted on Google's Firebase Hosting, which processes standard technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages, under Google's privacy policy.
Your choices
- Export: export any drive, or all of them, as GPX or GeoJSON from inside the app.
- Delete: delete a single drive, or everything, from inside the app. Deleting the app also deletes its data from your iPhone; copies in your own iCloud Backup follow Apple's backup settings.
- Stop recording: pause recording, turn off location access in iOS Settings, or delete the app.
Because we don't hold your data, there's nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on our side. If you have a question about your data, contact us anyway; we're happy to help.
Children
DRWN isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Security
Your data stays in DRWN's private storage on your iPhone, protected by the encryption iOS provides when your device is locked with a passcode.
Changes to this policy
If DRWN ever changes how it handles your data, for example by adding an optional feature that uses an outside service, we'll update this policy and the date above before that version is released.
